Introduction:
Daniel Brożek, curator of the concert series
The International Nothing is a Berlin-based psycho-acoustic clarinet duo formed by Michael Thieke and Kai Fagaschinski in 2000. The duo composes multi-layered sound sculptures using multiphonics, beat frequencies and difference tones as an integral part of their language. The International Nothing performed all over Europe, North and South America and East Asia and released several albums with the Japanese Ftarri Label.
In their new long-form composition Just None of Those Things the two clarinets merge into one multi-layered entity. And while you might recognize their collective voice, they certainly reached further into the abyss of weirdness. This composition could be considered as the duo’s yet rawest and most refined piece, in which the artists explore the most futuristic and primordial sonic territories of their musical instruments.
