Concert:
World premieres for Petr Kotík from American and European composers. Organised by the Ostrava Center for New Music.
A concert celebrating a jubilee of composer and conductor Petr Kotík. Performed by Hana Kotková, Vandewalle and Ostravská banda.
Petr Kotík (1942) was at the origins of the Czech musical avant-garde of the 1960s. He founded the first ensemble dedicated to live electronic music in Prague, and after moving to New York he initiated the formation of the S.E.M. Ensemble, with which he made his debut at the legendary Carnegie Hall. At the turn of the millennium, he founded an international festival of new music in Ostrava. Thanks to Kotík, Ostrava has since become a global name in the field of contemporary music. In 2022, Petr Kotík was awarded the prestigious John Cage Award in the USA.
Held by Ostrava Centre for New Music in cooperation with PLATO.
