We’ll take a walk through the key locations of PLATO with historian Petr Lexa Přendík, author of Ostravské pěšiny. A surprise. Part of the program celebrating PLATO’s 10th anniversary.

Since 2022, we have been based in the renovated building of the former municipal slaughterhouse. Our journey here took us through several other temporary locations. Together with historian and chronicler Petr Lexa Přendík, we’ll take a look at them and learn not only about the historical context of these places, but also about the story of PLATO.

We’ll discover how a gasometer was converted into exhibition spaces, how a small shop can host a gallery, and how contemporary art can find a home in a 5,000-square-meter glass-walled hobby store. Places that almost no one would have thought could become galleries have indeed become galleries. We’ll learn how the unique characteristics of these spaces have shaped the gallery’s operations, which have never been limited solely to exhibition projects.
