In a modest selection, we present the work of the lesser-known but exceptional artist Barbora Lungová.

Ironically, Barbora Lungová (born 1977) has been perceived and accepted on the contemporary Czech art scene as an environmental activist and gardener, rather than being acknowledged as a remarkable painter. Yet her work as a painter has been developing continuously for two decades, somewhat tellingly outside the main centres of the art scene. Unique from the generational and artistic points of view, her work contributes to the issues of gender, non-normative desire and hypnotic symbolism and provides a powerful visual and artistic experience which, while resonating with our visual understanding, challenges the meanings we usually associate with it.
